The Kantas Expanse
A continent of Toril, several months sailing south-west of Faerûn, the Kantas Expanse is point in the Material Plane that's noticeably a little frayed.
The Kantas Expanse is a land naturally inclined to portals, planar bleeds and other extraplanar phenomena as a result of a strange quality of the area's Material Plane component that only a few Faerûnian scholars have even begun to study and none fully understand. This work has become a major focus for Aurelia Archselon, wizard of Daring Heights.
Many civilisations abound across Kantas, but the people of Daring Heights (and by extension, Faerûn), are only aware of a handful. This page presents Kantas as it is known by Daring Heights and will be updated as more is discovered, but all know that there is so much more to this land than they currently are aware of.
Geography
Daring Heights is built on a hill in a region of temperate rolling hills and valleys that make for excellent farmland. The Northern Woods to the North and the Southern Woods, unsurprisingly, to the South both stretch for vast distances. It takes perhaps 3 or 4 days to walk across either from end to end. The coastline is a little more than a day's travel to the east, and between the forests on the coast a large bog makes travel between Port Ffirst and Daring Heights unpleasant.
To the west, a road leads from Daring to a stone quarry at the base of a large mountain range that stretches south further than maps currently show, and north almost as far as the city of Kundar.
Fauna & Flora
It is notable that the flora and fauna of Kantas is roughly the same as Western Faerûn, though botanists and druids are quick to point out differences and regional variants. What exactly this means has yet to be fully explored.
Natural Resources
The merchants and guilds established in Daring Heights learned quickly that though an abundance of natural resources exist in the region, they were not all free and undefended.
Contracts for lumber rights had to be drawn up with several primal forces in the Southern Woods, though the gold, stone and gems to the west were far more easily exploited.
