Angelbark Woods

Daring Heights is bounded to the north and the south by vast woodlands, which have made exploration slow and difficult. Originally named 'The Northern Woods' by unimaginative townsfolk, the forest to the north of town has since become known as the Angelbark Woods due to its angelic guardian.   Stretching north slightly further than the city of Kundar , this is a dense wood which holds a vast variety of peoples and places to interest an adventurer.

Geography

The southern bounds of Angelbark Woods begin about a 6 or 7 hour walk north of Daring Heights, stretching east to west for many miles. Its eastern edge generally follows the coastline of the The Sea of Tears.   The northern reaches of the forest are, to the denizens of Daring, poorly known or explored. They are believed to end after about 3 or 4 days travel, though few have ever gone this far.   Within the forest, there are a few hills and caves, but otherwise the terrain is relatively flat. A notable location within the forest's geography is the Gorge - a deep canyon with a river running through it, and a particular point in this river where the gorge flows around a triangular shard of rock stretching up to the forest surface. This shard of rock was the former location of the Twilight fortress, and the site of the first great war Daring Heights engaged in.

Fauna & Flora

A large temperate forest, Angelbark holds a varied array of both plants and creatures.   Some key plants include the great oak trees, many times larger than normal, used as transport hubs and sources of power for local druids. Also, rowan trees have a special place in the forest, as the tree of the forest's other guardian - the dryad Rowan.
