Personal history
Hamelin was born into a wealthy family in Märchen well known for its connections in trade and banking. However, as a child, Hamelin was seen as being too rowdy and unwieldy for aristocratic life in the city. Hoping the brothers might teach him discipline, Hamelin was sent to live with the monks at the Abbey of St. Barnabus.
It was at the Abbey that Hamelin fell in love with poetry, song, and storytelling. After refusing his father's wishes to come back to the city as a young man and learn the family trade, he began what would become several years of traveling the Known World performing ballads and entertaining crowds.
Eventually, Hamelin returned to the city of Märchen where he found fame and notoriety through his many volumes of poetry and ballads.
