The Great Scar is a large, seemingly bottomless canyon located in Vehasi. It was caused during the God War, a conflict spanning all of Dulūn. Millenia after the God War, the Scar still bisects half of the continent. It limits trade, travel, and communication between the nations on either side, effectively splitting the continent into Northern and Southern halves.

Geography

The inside of the Great Scar is a steep rocky cliff reaching further down into the planet than most have travelled. These walls extend into numerous caves, and cut the continent's Underdark in half as well as the surface. The rocks are loose and unstead, prone to rockslides. Very few know what is at the bottom of the canyon, this knowledge likely limited to the gods themselves - if in fact there is a bottom. All expeditions of exploration into the depths of the canyon have ended in catastrophe, though some organisations still offer a costly reward to any able to return with proof they have reached its furthest depths.

Land Travel

There are two methods of land travel across the Great Scar. On either side of the continent is a pass between it and the ocean. These are controlled by Vechia and Dostros. Likewise, they are named after them, known as the Dostran Pass and the Vechian Pass. Each are used primarily by the nations bordering them, though there is some contention over this.

Dostran Pass

The mountainous Dostran Pass facilitates travel and trade between the northern and southern areas, mostly between Dostros and New Vransi. It is much more lenient and open to the public - other than those restricted from entry into either nations for other reasons. This does also mean that it's much more open to those with sinister intent, such as smugglers and fugitives.

Vechian Pass

The well-guarded and monitored Vechian Pass allows for travel and trade between the north and south - though primarily Vechia and Reuni. It is monitised, with Vechia offering escorted trips to and from Reuni for a somewhat absorbitant fee. Guards are posted in the mountainous cliffs to its east, preventing smugglers and unwelcome trespassers from using the land for their own benefits.

I'm so intrigued by what could be at the bottom of the canyon, or if there even is a bottom. So many different possibilities.
