The Krolish People
The Krolish people hail from a small number of villages on the eastern fringes of The Frostgale Taiga. They were one of the first peoples conquered by the Hobgoblins of The Hand of Doom as they invaded out of The World Spine Mountains. They possessed a unique skill that the Hobgoblins didn't, in that they were expert horsemen and as such Azarr Kul saw value in them.
The Hand of Doom gave them an ultimatum that many did not get, surrender and serve The Hand as auxiliary cavalry and be relocated east, or die. Those that didn't flee or die fighting chose this option. The Hand promised them dominion of The Snowdrift Flatlands once the campaign was over, and they were reluctant to agree. Their old homes gone, they have loaded their wagon trains and march along with the army. Their numbers have dwindled down to around 60 people, with only 20 capable horsemen. The rest of their number are scattered or dead.
The Krolish horses are quite floofy, with long manes and long hair all over their bodies. Because of this additional weight they are able to carry less than a traditional warhorse, but they are quite well adapted to the winter environment. The krolish riding gear and saddles are fairly light to compensate, and the horses lack barding.
The Krolish have a distinct manner to their speech and a culture of their own, but they are of Foerdewaith descent. The patron deity of the Krolish is Belon the Wise, and the Krolish believe that in their travels they will gain the wisdom they desire.
