Tempered Crown

Before the War of Ashes, the kingdom of Melovakh was run by the tyrannical royal family of Vashira. It was during unfolding of events following The Displacement that its leader, Queen Vašir, truly made a name for herself.   The symbol for her rule was the crown that rested upon her head, the item of jewellery that had been in her family for generations but went down as an artifact of legend once her conquest began.

History

In centuries long-since past, the Vashir family claimed sovereignty over the kingdom of Melovakh. Their reign began with the overthrowing of the previous king, who ruled with an iron fist. The coup was swift and brutal, supplanting themselves as the celebrated champions of the newly-liberated populace. It is said that the crown itself was forged from the metal gauntlet of the overthrown tyrant king, a symbol of the oppression he expressed onto his people.   The Tempered Crown was from then on a symbol of the hardships overcome by the Vashir family so long ago, that their rule has been earned with through blood and fire. When the War of Ashes began, Queen Vashir took the opportunity to use the crown as a symbol for her conquest, her desire and duty to rule the mountains.   In the modern age, the crown is said to be under careful lock and key, watched over by the Curators.

Significance

Always held by the current Vashk sovereign matriarch, the crown is a symbol of power and strength. It represents the hardening and strengthening of spirit and will through trial or adversity. Just as the crown has been forged and tempered in flames, so too must the leader of a kingdom.   Even though the Vashk monarchy has been made constitutional and largely representational without much legislative power, the Tempered Crown remains a potent symbol to the citizens of Vashira.
