Subraces in Western Rodain

The 10 Kingdoms

  • The 10 Kingdoms have a tenuous alliance that was created to band together during the The War of Domination, and though it still holds to this day, Some Kingdoms are growing bolder in their actions that breach treaty rules.
  • The Kingdom of Brydia was the first to learn of the Maelstrom Isles! as Hogenbrand received funding from the Brydian Explorer's Guild; they were also the first to establish a city on the Isles.
  • Though each Kingdom has its own diversity, many of its native people are of moderate height and build, they are fair-skinned with brown hair that ranges from almost blond to almost black with some dark red as well. Common eye colors include Green, blue and brown.

The Kingdoms of Vetencia, Hesperita, and Gavaton

  • Once all part of Vetencia, Hesperia, and Gavaton split after the The War of Domination because of political differences.
  • All three Kingdoms were part of the rush to claim land in the Maelstrom Isles!. However, Vetencia became the most successful after a nobleman named Estondo de Tella utilized the Lizardfolk to clear large areas of land for his Kingdom.
  • The people from these Kingdoms are usually shorter than most other humans yet still taller than dwarves on average. They have olive complexions and hair that is dark brown, almost black. Their eyes are brown and have flecks of gold in them.

The Holy Aladonian Empire

  • After the The War of Domination religion was highly sought after, as there was much to mourn. Aladonia became the center for the Church of Menekris’ rise in popularity. After so many different kingdoms joined Aladonia it became an Empire and, backed by the people, became ruled by the Church.
  • An Aladonian working on Hogenbrand’s crew immediately informed his government of this wondrous find. And only a few days after Brydia had established its first city the Aladonians established theirs, from then on it became a race.
  • The Aladonian Empire is large and has an incredibly diverse population, people from just about every race call the Empire their home. The native Aladonians are a tall, strong people with skin hues ranging from tawny to fair, and hair that ranges from golden blonde to firey-red to a light brown. Their eyes are blue to green to light brown.

Subraces in the rest of the Known World

Dou-chei

  • People from the east across the Unforgiving Plains who bring many goods not found in Western Rodain by caravan.
  • During the rush to the Maelstrom Isles!, Dou-chei ships arrived with many goods and people. Over the years they have integrated with the other peoples there and have their own district in Alabaster. In more secluded spots they have built their temples and monasteries where they welcome outsiders to learn their ways.
  • Dou-chei have skin of a yellowish-bronze hue and have black hair and dark almond shaped eyes.

Zuli-Tkasa

  • A convergence of the Zuli and Tkasa people that resulted in a wealthy and prosperous land as well as the construction of the most beautiful city on earth.
  • The Zuli-Tkasa people have not claimed land on the Maelstrom Isles!. They do have an embassy in Alabaster and many people have come from their lands to do trade and other business activities.
  • Zuli-Tkasa people are generally tall and muscular, their skin is dark mahogany and they have curly black hair and dark eyes.

Haladri

  • The people of the Hellfire Desert are called the Haladri. They live all along what outsiders call the Haladri Road which is a strip of land going north south all the way across the desert. This strip is considered the only safe way to cross the desert by anyone but the Haladri.
  • Similar to the High Elves the Haladri are striving to retake their ancestral home that is now a place of extreme danger. Some believe in a prophesy of a champion, others prefer action and instead of waiting around, actively search the world for powerful artifacts of legend. These are the ones that have come to the Maelstrom Isles!.
  • The Haladri are on average shorter and slighter in build than other humans and have dusky brown skin. Their hair is either very dark brown or full black and their eyes are different shades of orange. They can be close to yellow and close to red but never fully.

The Northern Realms

  • The Northern Realms are populated largely by humans and dwarves. The north is a very fertile land for both farming and mining however winters can be very harsh and the threat of Hrimnir forces coming in from the Frost Giant Lands has become a growing issue.
  • Though the tropical climate of the Maelstrom Isles! can be uncomfortable for those used to the crisp northern air, men and women from the North are always looking for new challenges, and the Isles provide.
  • Humans in the North are tall and fair-skinned with hair that is black, blonde, red, or light brown. Their eyes are cold blue, steely gray, or silver. It's also common that they have tattoos in the form of runes written to create a picture.

Religion

  • Church of Menekris is a very popular religion among humans in Western Rodain. It is the only religion in the Holy Aladonian Empire that is legal to follow. The church also exists outside of the Empire, though the Archbishop of Aldonia does not recognize it as being the true Church of Menekris.
  • The other main religion in Western Rodain is the The Church of the True Masters. There are 10 Master creators that stand side by side and teach men how to live honorably in the world they made for them.
  • Because of its many coasts and Islands the The People of Vetencia, Hesperita, and Gavaton follow their God Galahondo and fear his brother Hespectian who are Lords of the Seas. People go to the beaches and wade out to the water to worship.
  • The main Dou-chei religion seems to have hundreds of Gods in their temples and not all their Gods are good, according to their priests, but you pay your respects to them all nonetheless. They also say it's not important to know all of their names, you worship them by focusing on yourself and as you do the Gods will take notice of you.
  • The Zuli people introduced their religion to the Tkasans whose Gods were angry, spiteful beings. They now both worship Dakari and Nima, the husband and wife God pair.
  • The Haladri have the Forgotten Pantheon, when their ancestral homeland was destroyed the survivors were cast out to wander the desert. After many years, all knowledge of their Gods faded as they no longer had records and they never had a need to keep an Oral record. Haladri still have holy men who search for ways to return their Gods to their memories, but they do not command the powers of the Gods.
  • The people of the North are united in their worship of The Maidens of Fate and follow their guidance to grow through challenges.
