Galeorichter

At the head of the Richterland of Galeo is its well-respected ruler, the Galeorichter. Born of the ancient Bliebl family who are believed to have ruled the area around Rapulari since before the Rising, the Galeorichter controls the various Galvan nobles and organizes them into a formidable fighting force...when they decide to pay attention, that is.

Head of the Hierarchy

Since the Richterland is a feudal state, the Richter sits at the top of the metaphorical food chain. All of the other Erlèn owe them military service through the system of Erlntum and so they can call upon these vassals in times of need and settle disputes between them. As head of the nation, they are also responsible for the handling of the nation's affairs as a whole, such as negotiating trade agreements with the Geldonan fleets from Geldon Island or the interior Richterlendy, sanctioning Fechtènshilèn and communicating with the Galvan Church of the Crossroads on matters of faith.

Head That Is Hunted

Picture to come :)
Being at such a high cultural standing and with the power to (potentially) make many far-reaching changes to Galvan life, the Galeorichter's position is highly sought after. This is why the Bliebl family keeps the position within the family; the other Erlèn would likely use it to gain too much power over the others and upset the delicate balance of power in the nation's nobility. It is also not unheard of for pretenders to attempt to usurp the Amethyst Crown, particularly among the Hoofkin who are also descended from the Bliebl family.

Speaking of which, the Galeorichter's influence is something that even the smallest Erlèn would die to have, and so their respect is extremely highly prized. Lucky and/or powerful is the person who owes Their Nobility a Rigterndatè, or a Royal Favour, as the completion of such acts means the Galeorichter owes that person a datè in return. Having the ruler of a nation in one's debt is a more powerful weapon than any magical sword, and the Richter gives them out quite rarely.

Passing Down, Passing a Crown

A Galeorichter is chosen by the previous holder of the title from among his relatives. Most of the time, a son is chosen for the role as women are more commonly warriors in Galvan culture (and therefore more likely to die in battle) and non-binary children are very rare - but not unheard of - among the nobility.   The appointment of a male heir at an early age allows the young Rigterke or "little king" to learn all about his future court and how to behave in polite society, as well as all the military and educational pursuits common to Galvan nobility. That way, when the current Richter dies, the new Richter is properly able to seize control of the Richterland. A pompous ceremony is held to celebrate the occasion (see Rigternhobing)
