At the smithy, you find a young woman sitting at the grindstone, sharpening a sword. Her muscles are well-defined as she brings the blade away from the grindstone with a shower of sparks. Her skin is a little darker than is normal for the region, but it's hard to tell underneath all of the soot and red burns from the forge. She is wearing a pair of wooden earrings. As you approach, you can see her look up, but not quite reach your eyes.
"Haven' seen you around before." she says "Name's Karin and I run this shop, such as it is. What can I do for ya?"

Karin is quite strong, with well-defined muscles earned through years of smithing. Her skin is slightly darker than is usual for a Gratic. She can often be found bending over, exaggerating the crook in her neck.

Her skin is tanned and red in some places from smithy burns.

Her face is simple, with light, feminine features.

She has a slight crook in her neck from bending over so much, which makes it hard for her to meet people's gazes from time to time.

Karin likes wearing darker colours and greys, as she can hide the soot stains better. She also wears a pair of wooden earrings that she got when she first bought the shop.

Personal history

Karin grew up here, her grandparents having been of Orenian heritage. Her father showed her how to smith when she was little and she's been doing it ever since, taking over the smithy after her father died three years ago.

Karin has always worked as a blacksmith, as her love of hard work and knowledge of weapons can attest to.

The Magistrate and her do not get along well, although neither of them is quite sure why.

Her parents and her older brother have all passed on, leaving her to run the shop. She has never married, and isn't particularly interested in love.
