Dewi

Bishop Dewi (a.k.a. The Waterman)

Bishop Dewi is a famously smart, forceful and fanatical monk. He is known as "The Waterman" because he outlawed all alcohol at several monasteries under his charge. In 492 he saw to the exile of Merlin and in the process helped exonerate Sir Bradwen II, Sir Felix, and Sir Monroe of charges of treason. It was also Fr. Dewi who baptized Sir Monroe into the Trinitarian faith.   For several years, Fr. Dewi was paid by Sir Bradwen to help Sir Felix overcome his alcoholism. In 506 Fr. Dewi left on Pilgrimage to the Holy Land and upon his return in 509 he founded a Benedictine monastery at Menevia in Cambria. He was then made a Bishop by acclamation of the monks and laying on of hands by Archbishop Dubricus.   Fr. Dewi is unusual in that he grew up within the local customs of the British Church but became a fierce advocate of following Roman ways after his trip to the Holy Land.
