Sir Bradwen goes to his wedding, but Lord Gwawl tricks him into giving up his bride.

Sir Bradwen, accompanied by his friends and Count Roderick's court, was led by birds to ride across the sea to the Castle of Hefeydd Henn for his wedding to Rhiannon. At the wedding feast, a mysterious stranger arrived and asked Bradwen for a favor and Bradwen agreed. The stranger, revealing himself to be Lord Gwawl, requested the hand of Lady Rhiannon. Bradwen had to agree, and the date for the wedding was set for a year after. However, Rhiannon told Bradwen that if he could acquire a certain magical bag, he could use it to compel Gwawl to free her from betrothal so she could marry Bradwen.
