Bay of Mynilad

The Bay of Mynilad is one of the largest and busiest bodies of water in the Southwestern Region. The city of Mynilad, capital of the Tagápulo Empire, is the largest settlement on the bay. Ships from all over the Great Ring can be found here throughout the year, and the city has one of the busiest marketplaces in the world. The coast of the bay has many villages and towns, and there are always numerous fishing boats on the water.

Notable Spirits

The bay is sacred to the Ilogaro people, who worship Luek, the god of the bay. They have a temple to Luek on the island of Lumai, the largest island in the bay. This sanctuary is tolerated by the Empire in deference to the god, but since the Ilogaro rebellion seventy-five years ago, the priests of Luek have largely sequestered on Lumai.

Geography

The Bay of Mynilad is a natural harbor located on the northern coast of Pulo. The coastline of the bay is over 118 miles long, and there are several islands inside the bay itself. The largest of these is the island of Lumai, where the temple to Luek, god of the bay, is located.

At the southernmost part of the bay, the Ilog Pasi flows through the city of Mynilad to empty into the bay. The region of the bay near the mouth of the river is famous for the crabs that live only there, and which are considered a great delicacy. The Parola Pasi is constructed on the eastern jetty at the mouth of the river, to aid ships seeking the river mouth.

The mouth of the bay is only about twelve miles wide, and there are two small islands that split the entrance into two seperate channels. These islands, Pulo Hukom and Pulo Kabayo, are only separated by a shallow strait a quarter mile wide, which is never used for large boats. These islands are primarily used to aid in the harbor defenses.
