Blessings
Blessings are the official hard currency of the Mottled Demesne. They are pentagon with a hole through the center. Both sides of the coin (there is no "heads" or "tails") feature the same design, a sunburst with holy writing on each major ray. Only the The Queen Mother , the gods, and some members of the Ministry of Finance can read the script.
The hole in the center of a Blessing is used to easily stack and count the coins using thin rods. Some affluent members of society have taken to wearing Blessings as jewelry.
The pentagon shape makes it easy to store Blessings vertically or horizontally. A One Pound Box of Blessings is a specially designed case that fits one hundred coins in five rows of twenty. As 100 Blessings weigh one pound, the name describes its contents, not the box itself.

Minting Blessings is a highly regulated process overseen by the Ministry of Finance.
