Bottomless Chug Tavern
This infamous landmark is a lively hotspot for travellers who visit New Frontier. It features expensive drinks, bland food and the only view in town of the Dead Man's Swallow vortex.
Because of the noise of the Vortex, the house bards and the midnight mock-battle performance, the Chug is often chosen as a meeting place for those who do not want their conversations overheard.
Purpose / Function
The Bottomless Chug was built over the Swallow vortex to serve as a tavern and tourist attraction.
Alterations
The original tavern was built on the west banks of Dead Man's Drink next to the Swallow. Over the years additions were built to extend the tavern over the Drink's water, wrapping around the Swallow. Doing so effectively cut off view of the natural wonder from most angles, except within the tavern itself.
Architecture
While the original stone and timber architecture has been maintained in the original section of the tavern, the north and south wings which envelope the Swallow were built to appear like two ships battling over a treacherous whirlpool.
Tourism
The Bottomless Chug is known by many names in many tongues across the realm. While some complain that the proprietors have ruined the splendor of the Swallow vortex by capitalizing on its natural wonder, many more enjoy the up-close and personal experience.
At midnight every night, the Chug puts on a show to the delight of its customers. The northern and southern wings of the tavern, decorated to look like ships engaged in a fierce battle, are called the Silver Goblet and the Dripping Crypt.
Performers on the Silver Goblet dance and sing about rum, waves, freedom and merfolk. Performers on the Dripping Crypt chant spooky rythms and make foul gestures, acting out a faux ritual to an evil demon-god named "Forgotten One".
The two sides engage in mock combat to the lively tune of house bards until one captain is "killed" and falls into the Swallow.
