Ledgers
Ledgers are licensed officials in villages and cities who notarize all transactions which include Favors and Penance.
Becoming a licensed Ledger requires approval by the Ministry of Finance and paying a fee of ten Blessings.
Examples of Ledger Business
Bartering a newborn piglet in exchange for a dozen of a neighbor's laying hens require notarization by a Ledger, who will report the transaction to the Ministry of Finance during the next audit. Paying three Penance to a tavern keeper for a round of ale require notarization by a Ledger. Many business-savvy proprietors will pay the Ministry fee and apply to become a Ledger so they can keep their own books in-house, rather than trust a third-party. A Ledger's book is highly valuable as it contains a list of all the transactions witnessed by the Ledger and can be turned over to the Ministry in exchange for Blessings.
