Session 49 - Tadpole
General Summary
A horrible, malevolent tadpole creature erupted from Guru Gopal's chest. Gorgoroth crushed the creature with his hammer (though its flames didn't appear to singe the monster).
The other astral dwarves screamed and cried in terror but a few of them started questioning what had happened to them before their slumber in the cryo chambers. They were trying to protect something from a band of Slaadi warriors (the dwrves didn't elaborate, though Lat'num believes they were talking about Zeitundraum). Most of the dwarves fled the area, but a skeleton crew stayed behind to operate the machinery and heal up in the cryo pods.
Lat'nun and S'thom were accompanied by Shanti, who was THRILLED to help. S'thom cast Detect Poison and Disease and detected an abnormality in Shanti. Lat'num had the dwarf woman load into the cryo pod to scan her body and S'thom secretly secreted poisonous toxins into her. At first, the pod computer only detected the poison, not the disease, but Lat'num ran comparative analysis and found that a growth ("It's not a tumor!") had developed while she was previously in stasis. He didn't have a cure, so he put her back in stasis, along with the young Nirmal who convulsed uncontrollably.
Gorgoroth joined Prashant, the newly promoted commander of the astral dwarves, and Geeta (the gossip). Together they searched for Deepak and Aditya. Deepak's corpse was found in the nearby privvy. Aditya had wandered off alone but Geeta knew some of the anti-social girl's hiding spots.
They found two of the local dwarven explorers (from the surface city) playing a game of slap-hands in one of the warforged engineering rooms. The pair shook their heads when asked about Aditya, so Gorgoroth and the others let them be.
Further down, Geeta... exploded. A slimy, tadpole-ish creature erupted from her corpse and called "Brother! Come out, let's play!" Prashant collapsed in violent convulsions. Gorgoroth attacked the creature and cried for help. Red and S'thom helped him destroy the creature and stabbed Prashant, ending the convulsions.
After the short battle, they decided to abandon the search. S'thom climbed into a cryo pod and Lat'num programmed it to graft the cybernetic arm to her shoulder. Then he locked the doors to keep the monsters out.
