A Canoness is a command position within the Adepta Sororitas. In the Daughters of Verity the Canoness is the senior and sole leader of the Ecclesiarchal Prelature Militant, advised by the Palatines. Since 40986, the current Canoness has been Shania.
Qualifications
In theory, any member of the Order (even Novices) may be appointed Canoness. In practice, the Canoness is chosen from the ranks of the Palatines.
Appointment
On the death of the previous Canoness, the Palatine Council convenes to elect a new Canoness. Most often, she is elected from the ranks of the Palatines - but there is no absolute requirement this is the case.
Duties
Responsible for spiritual, military and political leadership of the Daughters of Verity.
Accoutrements & Equipment
Like the Palatines, the Canoness wears a fur-trimmed cloak over her habit and armor.
