Physical Description
General Physical Condition
A powerfully-built man in his early years, he lost his legs during the occupation of Ophelia VII by the Tyrant of Blueflame. His legs were replaced by a gigantic, six-legged cybernetic construction during the Relief of Ophelia.

Personal history
A simple preacher on Hive Primus of Necromunda, Father Griffin provided spiritual guidance to a small congregation of industrial laborers. Well-known for the passion of his sermons and intensity of his faith, as well as his somewhat tangential and even obsessive rants against those with dietary restrictions (he alternated between accusing such individuals of simply having a picky palette and refusing the bounty of the God-Emperor, or being cursed with a non-functioning digestive system for some grievous sin), he was a popular preacher.
In the early years of M42, one of his congregation won a substantial sum of credits in Helmwar's lottery and donated it to Father Griffin to be used to lead a pilgrimage. A group of pilgrims were drawn by lot from the congregation and passage was booked to Ophelia VII there to walk the Via Imperator.
Unfortunately, either the news of the Tyrant of Blueflame's conquest of Ophelia had not reached Necromunda, or it happened while the ship was still in Warp-transit. Whatever the reason, when the pilgrims made planetfall in Saint Laertes's spaceport, they were plunged into a violent conflict.
Never one to shy away from a struggle against those opposed to the Emperor even though he was completely unfamiliar with warfare, Father Griffin led his pilgrims into combat with the cultists ravaging the holy city. His pilgrims were slaughtered to a man, but Father Griffin survived, their deaths being the vehicle by which the God-Emperor taught him important lessons - namely, the importance of wearing armor and taking cover. Privately, he speculated if the pilgrims' failure to triumph over the forces of the Ruinous Powers was due to some secret sin, perhaps gluten intolerance? Fearing their souls might be lost forever because of this hidden weakness, he began to perform penances for them - something he continues to this day.
