Hydro League
The Hydro League or Water Federation is a loose collective made up of the allied Aethermin Clans on Ophelia VIII. So named because their main export is hydrogen mined from the atmosphere of the gas giant, the Hydro League is not as wealthy as the Lithic League based on Ophelia III but is more outward-looking. Located toward the edge of the Ophelia System, the Hydro League's main trade is with visiting starships who take on vast quantities of refined hydrogen fuel for their plasma reactors. This external trade makes the Hydro League's floating citadels more cosmopolitan than those of the Lithic League, with pilgrims spending some time there while their ships refuel.
Influenced by the piety of these pilgrims and the proximity of the Sororitas and Ministorum on Ophelia VII, devotion to the God-Emperor is not unknown among the Aethermin of the Hydro League. Some of these believers are banded together in mercantile sect known in High Gothic as De Novo Ignis, commonly translated into Gothic as "New Flame". They manufacture sacred promethium of extremely high quality which, through pilgrims, makes its way to the forges and armories of Ophelia VII.
The Clans which make up the Hydro League have exclusive mineral rights to Ophelia VIII in exchange for exorbitant leases paid to the Cabinet-Chancery of Ophelia VII. The Ice Belt prospectors of Ophelia IX are most commonly exiled or adventurous former-members of the Hydro League.
