Military action
The Bonfire of Jaccard occurred several days after the crushing Jaccardian defeat during the Battle of Broken Cavalry.
Having been defeated at the Field of the Trampled, the Jaccardian army fled behind the high walls of the city of Jaccard, where the Labyrinthine archers rained arrows upon the besieged city for days. Flaming arrows were then launched into the city, igniting the incredible volume of spent arrows, and incinerating everyone and everything inside the walls of Jaccard.
