The Phandalin Performance Competition
Scheduled for 14 Kythorn 1491 DR, the quinquennial Phandalin Peformance Competition happens to be set at the same time the Owl Friends adventuring party is in town.
Hosted for the third time by Velyndra Tharashk of Waterdeep, this year's event promises the best magic item prizes seen in competition to date.
Organized by the board of the Waterdeep Guild of Fine Carnivalesque Performers and Theatrical Productions, with funding from House Margaster and House Roznar, the competition is a chance to identify unique local talent that might otherwise be overlooked.
Entry to the competition requires ensemble performances and this year's bill includes previous stand-outs The Luminous Troubadours and The Mystic Rhythms Ensemble. Molly is beside herself with excitement and hopes the Owl Friends decide to enter.
UPDATE:
The Owl Friends did, indeed, enter the talent show. After a wonderful beginning with Golgruk “Gruk” Bloodaxe showing a feat of strength and juggling the smaller members of the party, who had all eaten a candy from the Bag of Bewildering Floats, the rest of the show went ... pear-shaped. Electra DelSol attempted to Wild Shape into a Pegasus, a form she had not yet learned. The psychedelic nature of the failed beastial form left the audience somewhat perplexed. It didn't get any better when Scarla Wiggleboot underwhelmed the crowd by presenting a bouquet of flowers picked on the Triboar Trail. Luckily Sparky BaneDusk was able to salvage what was left of the performance with a Sleight of Hand routine. Weren't it for the blistering showcases by the opener and closer, the group would be doomed for a participation ribbon. Instead, they were rewarded with a Third Place showing and the Boots of the Merry Dance.
