The Phandelver Pact
The Phandelver Pact was formed over three hundred years ago, involving a mutually-beneficial alignment between gnomes, dwarves, elves, and humans. This pact was to share the riches of a highly prosperous mine known for its source of innate magic, known as the Spell Forge. Here, magical weapons and armor could be reliable produced. The pact led to the establishment and flourishing of the mine in Wave Echo Cave.
Due to the mine’s influence, the nearby area prospered significantly, leading to the growth of the settlement of Phandalin and boosting the region’s economy.
The peace and prosperity were shattered when orcs, driven by greed and under the leadership of an alliance of Chaotic Evil Wizards, invaded the mine. Their invasion led to battles that not only caused significant destruction but also lost the mine’s location over time. It was at the last great battle that Agatha and her beloved wife fell.
Following the invasion, the entrance to Wave Echo Cave was lost, and with it, the knowledge of the Forge of Spells. The once-prosperous region suffered, and Phandalin became a shadow of its former self, eventually dwindling to a mere frontier settlement.
