Torchbearers

The Torchbearers (TCB) are Thrane's state intelligence agency, operating under the umbrella of the Church of the Silver Flame.

Overview

The Torchbearers act as Thrane's primary intelligence agency, but due to the theocratic nature of Thrane's government, also serve as protectors of the church's interests. Many people outside of Thrane (and even some inside) see this as a a problem, as the agency should serve to protect Thrane's people, not the church's interests. Though they are one of the Five Nation's intelligence agencies, they are generally considered to be unprofessional and ill-equipped for espionage due to them being pulled in too many directions. However, some maintain that this "bumbling" nature is a devious cover to ensure people underestimate their abilities.
