Fall of Lethe

The single most important event in the history of the The Pleiadian Alliance, the Fall of Lethe was a victory buried under a great tragedy that left a world desolated and took the lives of billions.

The Conflict

Outcome

Over a billion people lost their lives in this conflict, including several sailor senshi, some native and some called in to fight.   The following senshi are known to have died in the fighting;

Aftermath

The planet of Lethe has been uninhabitable since the Fall of Lethe. There were survivors, but they were forced to emigrate. Most ended up on a previously unsettled moon in the Merope System.   Whilst several senshi died in the event, to this day there have been no successors to the starseeds and titles of Sailors Styx, Lethe, Acheron, Phlegethon and Cocytus.

Historical Significance

Whilst it had a full contingent of senshi at its disposal, Lethe rarely had need of them. It was going through a prosperous period, making great strides economically, socially and technologically.   Unfortunately, this prosperous age came to an abrupt end. A previously unknown threat appeared suddenly with no warning and with seemingly only one desire - destruction of the civilisation on Lethe. Whether this was so they could then inhabit the planet, or just because they enjoyed the destruction, no one ever knew.   Initial strikes were hard and fast, wiping large towns and small cities off the map within hours. Lethe's senshi, unused to combat, were useless - more often in the wrong place at the wrong time and unable to get there in time. And then the one time there was a senshi around, she could do little but stand there, the alien forces moving around her as if she was irrelevant.   The senshi grouped up and met the enemy on the battlefield. Combined, they had the power to slow the advancing forces initially but were soon overwhelmed. It was becoming very obvious that they lacked the power and numbers to effectively combat the threat that was quickly overtaking Lethe.   So one senshi, Sailor Pleione, left. She travelled to neighbouring star systems and begged the senshi there for their help. She told of the destruction her home was suffering and believed it was likely that when finished with Lethe, these beings would move on to others.   And, to her great relief, help came. Tens of senshi from these systems stepped forwards, putting their lives on the line. They travelled to Lethe and hit the enemy forces with all the power they could muster, finally creating an opening where the fight back could actually begin.   All things considered, the war didn't last long. Less than a month passed from the initial incursion to the last battle that saw the combined senshi forces and what remained of Lethe's armies push the enemy back to their homeworld. But the destruction on Lethe had left it uninhabitable. What was left of the population had no choice but to flee.

Legacy

The The Pleiadian Alliance and the Senshi Council only exist in their current form because of what happened on Lethe.   With the forging of the Alliance, some way of comparing dates and times across different planets and solar systems was required and so the Pleiadian Calendar was created, with the year of the Fall of Lethe counting as 0PA. The calendar's timings were taken from those felt by Lethe itself (same length of day, calendar month and year).
