GMS
General Massive Systems (GMS) is the leading manufacturer of all kinds of high tech products in Mundi. It was spawned out of the combined efforts of the nations of Mundi after they formed the The United Nations of Mundi in a hope to better their society as a whole. These days they are best known for creating androids, establishing The Web, and organising the L.A.N.C.E.R. Initiative.
Achievements
Perhaps the most impressive achievement in GMS history was the creation of the androids. These are a sentient species of creatures built by Mundian scientists and engineers that live among all of the other species of the Pontision System. Based on Mundian minds, these androids have their own culture and way of life. They primarily live in Eden, a lunar city on the moon of Gwener but can be found all across the galaxy. This technology was also the precursor to modern AI integration that is used in mech combat and smart weapons. Beyond this, GMS is the leading expert in creating settlements on moons and other inhospitable landmasses. They have pioneered a massive apparatus known as a habitat dome that can replicate the atmospheres of habitable planets. This was primarily made so that Mundi could support its growing population by building cities on nearby moons. However, this process takes many years to set up, and it is now far more common to see habitat domes being used on smaller scale projects. These projects include mining and survey ventures, wherein a habitat dome can be up and running from anywhere between a month or two to a handful of days depending on the size of the team and the scope of the project. General Massive Systems is also to be thanked for their hand in creating The Web. Were it not for them sending intergalactic messages out to the entire galaxy, the various sentient species of the Pontision System may have never met. Moreover, they worked in close collaboration with the Auctori in their design and construction of the nodes. Due to Mundi's proximity to the other Worlds, The Web's design would not have succeeded without GMS' input and assistance. In more recent years, General Massive Systems has been known for their establishment of the L.A.N.C.E.R. (League of Adventuring Newcomers as Coordinated Emergency Responders) Initiative. This is a program that seeks to recruit and empower skilled pilots (known as Lancers) so that they can assist in combating intergalactic threats, whether trivial or severe, that ordinary law enforcement cannot contend with for one reason or another. They supply beginner pilots with a mech of their own design: the Everest, and as they accomplish missions they can invest in the four other major mech manufacturers to gain better gear for more dangerous and important missions. They have done this in collaboration with IPS-N, SSC, HORUS, and HA; making the L.A.N.C.E.R. Initiative one of the few remaining instances of collaboration between The Spider Alliance and Telea and Sani'Tatem.Use of AI
Due to their history with the androids, General Massive Systems does not utilise or provide advanced AI systems. Instead, they provide a COMP/CON system, a simple AI that can carry out basic instructions. However, while this system is a basic one it does not suffer from the instability of the more advanced technology that the other manufacturers use in their machinery. GMS also has been able to adapt this system into what is known as smart weapons. Smart weapons use AI tech to guide their attacks when in a firefight so that their users, especially those inclined toward intelligence, do not have to rely on raw skill alone.
