Silverpass
Silverpass is a major town that sits directly between the large port cities of Lightharbor and Marhaven. The road between these two locations is long, and Silverpass serves as a welcome pit-stop for merchant caravans and itinerant traders. The city's bustling bazaar and merchant districts offer a chance for weary traders to earn some extra coin from the tourists who come to experience the abutting forest of the Silverwood. Though not as large as its metropolitan neighbors, Silverpass is the largest town of the region.
Government
The Lord-Mayor's office oversees the governing of Silverpass. This organization is led by the Lord-Mayor, and has numerous groups and councils that maintain the function of the town's economy.
Industry & Trade
The majority of Silverpass' income is derived from the hordes of merchants and tourists who visit the city to sell and buy, respectively. Merchants are required to purchase a permit in order to reserve a stall in the city's bazaar, and goods sold there are taxed. The city boasts a great number of taverns and inns of varying degrees of luxury to accommodate both visitors to the city and the merchants themselves. In addition, Silverpass is the only way to access the Silverwood, and admittance into the forest requires a fee. Besides these attractions, Silverpass has little in the way of exports. The few farms that operate nearby allow a handful of breweries to operate, but that's about it.
History
Silverpass was originally established by roving traders as a rest area. Soon this camp attracted more and more traders, and soon it became known as a marketplace. The druids who lived in the Silverpass soon came upon these traders, and the two parties became allies. The traders shared their wealth with the druids, and the druids kept the forest safe for the traders. The two entities have maintained this relationship for generations.
