Uran was an accomplished Arcanist and an avid writer.  He wrote many tomes about the nature of the earth and the various materials found on it, including Uran's Main Manual of Metals and Earth and Ores: Where to Find Them and What to do With Them.  Many spells in the school of transmutation and the current theories about the make up of materials are thanks to his research and writings.
