Tasha // Natasha Blythe
Tasha (a.k.a. Natasha Blythe; Iggwilv)
Tasha is a figure known by many names and titles throughout history. Iggwilv the Witch Queen sits atop that list, but the most recent-- and the last-- was Natasha Blythe, an old fortune teller who lived in Veruda, close to her daughter Alesha and her granddaughter, Clarissa.
Not much is known about Natasha Blythe outside of her own family, but she did nonetheless carry a reputation; she once lived in Kesgrave, where she predicted the deaths of several who sought their fortunes-- fortunes that each came true within a week, causing the people of the city to turn against her. She relocated to Kesgrave and raised her daughter there, eventually passing a few magical secrets to her granddaughter when she was old enough. After her death and Clarissa's acceptance to Nightcrest Academy, Oliver Roche found Natasha Blythe's name in Emeline Snowstride's journal among listed members of the Darktongue Cabal. While this brought her past into question, it seemed unsurprising to Clarissa that her grandmother might have been involved with dark magics.
While Natasha Blythe passed in relative obscurity, Tasha lived in anything but. Said to be the adopted daughter of Baba Yaga herself, stories tell of Tasha exploring the Material Plane and beyond both in search of magical secrets. She was a mage of legend, among the most powerful and prolific in the world; even today, several spells of her own invention bear her name. Depending on the account, Tasha was a wizard, or a sorcerer, or a warlock pledged to Baba Yaga who freed herself on that pact-- the truth is likely some combination of all three. Tasha's name is also linked to a variety of studies including dark magics, which has made her a bit less popular among scholars of the Glass Library.
The name Iggwilv is more directly tied to such dark arts. Also called the Witch Queen, Iggwilv is known throughout the Feywild as a mortal mage who styled herself in archfey for a time. The stories of how she was eventually ousted from the Feywild are as varied as the historical accounts of Tasha, but the only steady truth of it all is that no mortal had ever left such mark among the Fey before or since. Iggwilv also infamously travelled to the Abyss itself, practicing fell magics and even consorting with demons themselves.
Recently Oliver found The Demonomicon of Iggwilv in Nightcrest's secret study, a powerful magic item that bound demons in its pages; one such demon was none other than Graz'zt, the Demon Prince of Pleasure, who upon being released by Oliver asked about Tasha and insinuated that the Demonomicon now belonged to Clarissa.
A legendary wizard of ages past-- and Clarissa Blythe's late grandmother.
