The Stone Mother
most dwarven peoples recognise the Stone Mother as the goddess of earth, stillness, and death—not in a bad way, just death as the end of movement. The Stone Mother never manifests, and many dwarves believe she isn’t a person at all, but the embodiment of stillness. Her “temples” are natural outcroppings of a particular type of rock, above or below ground; dwarves will build commemorative shrines and community buildings around the rock, but there are no statues and few rituals.
There are a number of societal roles dedicated to the Stone Mother, from temple priest to wandering monk. The the Stone Mother's House in Malfa is the largest outside of the Forges, and larger than many of those, though still quite small by human standards. It is a landmark of dwarven culture outside the Forges.
