Deeds
Utility
- Void Deeds allow whoever placed the Deed to control a single dragon, or draconic being with ancestry to the Void; primarily Dragonborn and Kobolds. The user also gains some powers from their Bond.
- Overworld Deeds give the power to make Contracts, magical deals engraved in paper or stone. These deals are not unbreakable, but will change color if they expire or are broken. In the Empire, Contractors keep track of, and enforce these Contracts.
- Aether Deeds allow direct communication with a specific god, depending on the material used. Only gods who once lived in the Aether are susceptible to this.
- Midnight Deeds allow the user to draw power and obedience from an undead being, similar to a Void Deed. These are not widely used, as necromancy is outlawed within the Empire.
- Everbright Deeds slow time in an area around them
- Everdawn Deeds increase the flow of time in the area around them
- Atum Deeds protect buildings, specifically those made of stone, from being damaged in any way, whether that be magic, siege weapons, or simple age. It also prevents anyone from taking something that does not belong to them without permission. These Deeds can be amended for specific people to be able to break them.
- All Deeds tend to be difficult to dispel with magic. Firstly, to fully dispel them, you need to use Dispel Magic on the Deed itself, which can
Manufacturing
A powerful magical ritual equal to a spell with a casting time of 1 hour, requiring Somantic, Material, and Verbal components and concentration. The exact level of the spell depends on what type of Deed is being created.
- Void: Requires a vial of dragon's blood from a dragon native to the void. The level of spell slot used depends on the strength of the dragon: Ancient, 9th Level, Adult, 8th Level, Young, 5th Level, Wyrmling, 3rd Level
- Overworld: Requires a set of chemicals that are easy enough to acquire in any city costing around 3 Silver Pieces, 1st Level Spell
- Aether: Requires something that god once touched, making it very difficult and costly to make, 6th Level Spell
- Midnight: Requires a piece of the undead to be bound, Spell level depends on the power of the undead
- Everbright: Requires a single snowflake, unmelted, from the Everbright, 8th Level Spell
- Everdawn: Requires a still living leaf from the Everdawn, 8th Level Spell
- Atum: Requires undamaged stone from Atum, 5th Level Spell
Access & Availability
Deeds are fairly uncommon. They are in every city in the Empire, but few have access to them. The process of creating them is a closely guarded secret, and those who know of it are reluctant to share it. The basic resources from the Overworld are fairly easy to get, but few have access to the extra planar areas to make a Deed.
Complexity
Alchemical resources are required from exactly two planes of existence, the Underworld (components made from the power and souls of Devils), and one other. Which other resource is used gives the Deed a different ability.
Discovery
Indrid Barkrirsk discovered it through experimentation in one of her labs, and brought the initial technology to Madar Skygrove, who first used a Void Deed to ensnare the dragon Ruin.
