Osric (Ah z - r ih k)

God of the Forge

"Creation was once a power only held by the divine. But Osric gave us his knowledge and inspiration, so that we too could create. To build, to imagine, to create; that is our prayer to the God of the Forge."
  • Berith Steel, Exploring the Gods Volume 2
  • First son of The God Mother and patron deity of the Nalchurions. Osric is the great crafter of the gods. He is master of the World Forge , creator of the physical world and the laws that govern it.

    Depictions

Osric is often represented as a dwarven humanoid with either a golden or blue beard. He holds his hammer in his right hand, and the world in his left. His symbol is an anvil with roots growing from the bottom.

    Divine Roles

After the divine war, Osric was given the task of forming the ethereal world into a physical one; seperating it from the World Sea. In doing so, he also created the natural laws that govern the world. It is for this reason that Osric is considered to be the only creation god among The Harbingers.

    Worship

Osric is worshiped as a god of creation, law, and order. Those who worship him believe that the act of creating is all the prayer he needs. He is a popular god amongst blacksmiths, jewelers, and other craftsman. Osric is also worshiped as a god of death by some people for his role in laying the dead gods to eternal rest. The moons, the sun, and the stars were all created by Osric, using the essences of those who had fallen in the divine war. For this reason, it is customary to engrave Osric's symbol on gravestones underneath the deceased's chosen god.
