The Forgeknights of the Iron Bastion

Developed in secret by the dark mages and beastmasters of the Iron Bastion, the Forgeknights are the Bastion's rivals to The Skyknights of Aerolithica.

History

With Aerolithica's mastery of the skies a constant barrier to The Iron Bastion's military conquest, they attempted to use the eavesdropping nature of the Lunar Dragons as a way to gather intelligence in order to duplicate their skyship technology.
The Iron Bastion leadership miscalculated, however. The Lunar Dragons - unwilling to part with their horde - refused to give up the secrets they had discovered. Enraged, the Iron Bastion took the Lunar Dragons captive, using their mages to experiment upon them, combining them with the fires of their mighty forges to create the first Red Dragons. While pure Lunar Dragons only reach the size of a draft horse when fully grown, these Red Dragons continued to grow, reaching sizes of up to 30 feet in length, with wingspans larger than some skyships.
While the noble Skyknights of Aerolithica bonded willingly with their mounts, these Red Dragon abominations were forcibly bonded to the most bloodthirsty and ruthless warriors of the Iron Bastion, making the Bastion's secret weapon: A platoon of Forgeknights.
