Captain of the Oathheath Guard (a.k.a. Trollkiller)
Holly was just a commoner of some reknown serving in the Guard of Oathheath. She was well known because she was one of the few women to serve the city in a military capacity, and because she was an excellent hunter, tracker, and falconer of some reknown. Also her reputation and nickname comes from hunting down and killing a monstrous troll that terrorized local agriculture.
When the coup to overthrow the Baron of Oathheath took place, Holly spirited the Baron, Vanth Blackwulf, out of Oathheath, and helped him gather and organize the guardsmen that followed them into the forests into a band of rebels, the self-proclaimed Freedom Riders.
Physical Description
Her red hair which seems to always be in long braids.
She is very skilled in the art of wilderness survival, and falconry.
Holly always can be seen in her guard uniform, which is leather armor and a black cloak. She always has a short sword and long sword scabbarded on each hip. In the wild she will be on horseback hunting with her falcon, Numine'.
Mental characteristics
Holly's father served the Baron of Oatheath, as did his father, and his father before him, etc. Holly was an only child, and though she were a woman, she was determined to follow in tradtition of the males of her family of military service to the Barony. She worked very hard to prove she was as strong, smart, tough, and quick as any male. She became a master falconer, and deft with wielding two blades in combat. After killing a mythical troll that terrorized farmers, shepherds, and fishers outside of Oathheath's city walls, she was given the nickname, "Trollkiller" and selected to the position of "captain" of the Oathheath guard.
When Zayne Highmoor began the coup to overthrow the current Baron of Oathheath, Holly pledged her loyalty personally to the Baron, as she saved his life, and fought to get him and as many loyal guardmen that would follow the Baron into the forests outside the city. Now that the Baron is missing, she is the de-facto leader of the former Oathheath guard, now turned guerilla fighters dubbed the "Freedom Riders."
By all appearance, Holly is definitely a woman, and a striking one at that. But she is not exactly a "proper lady." She prides herself on being as tough, or even tougher, than any man serving in the guard. While she seems to care about her appearance a little; she keeps her hair long (but in braids so her hair stays out of her way), she does not embrace the concept of femininity, or any gender concept really. Holly only worries about being good at her job, and her service to the Baron.
Some have often wondered if Holly is not interested in men, as she is not married, birthed no children, and to everyone's knowledge not had a male romantic partner. It doesn't appear that Holly is interested in women either. Or even concepts like love, sex, or any other form of romantic relationships.
Holly was taught to read and write by her father and mother. Her father taught her survival in the wild, the art of falconry, the art of martial combat and strategies of warfare. Her mother tried teaching her the skills of a more traditional lady, but Holly just didn't seem interested.
Holly served the armed guard of the city of Oathheath. The guardsmen are voluntary full-time soldiers. Holly was one the guardmen who fled the city on horseback once it was clear that knights of Oathheath had been slain, and many commoners that made up the guard were also killed in the battle. She had been elected "captain" of the Freedom Riders once the deposed Baron and his expedition had gone missing.
For commoner Holly has garnered quite the reputation.
She is one of a few women serving in the guard. She is a hunter, tracker, falconer, and ranger of some reknownHolly led a squad of guardsmen to hunt the aforementioned troll, and being the one to deliver the killing blow.
Her latest acievements would be getting the Baron out of Oathheath before he could be killed and helping him organize those guardsmen loyal to him and flee the city. From there she organized the surviving men into a fighting force that had been dubbed The Freedom Riders.
Personality Characteristics
Holly dreams of being knighted and serving Oatheath in the capacity as a knight would.
Social
Holly commands a retinue of close to 500 guardsmen. These men are all commoners and entered military service for the pay and presitge. She answered to the 9 knights of Oathheath that served the Baron of Oathheath. But it is believed that these knights were slain in the coup to depose the current Baron, Vanth Blackwulf.
Holly owns no lands and holds no titles other than her rank of captain. This rank does have its priveleges, however.
