Filii Imperatricis

The cult of the God Empress is a powerful if fanatical one. As the organization that contains the Inquisition, they are all to often seen as nothing more then extremists by those not favoured by the Council of Smoke. Yet many forget that the God Empress and by extension her faithful are the watchful mothers of the Smoking Heaven. There are few places that a weary or injured person can find refuge that will ask fewer questions then the Filii Imperatricis.

Structure

The Filii Imperatricis are lead by the right and left hands of the God Empress; each acting as the leader of one of the Two Arm's of the God Empress. Her Excellency the Grand Cardinal serves as her left hand and leads the church. Below her each perish is headed by the cardinals who oversee those faithful in each of the major cities. Priests and priestess below them serve as the direct heads of each congregation while the preacher travel the country side bring any who doubt back to the God Empress's light. The Inquisition answers to the Lord High Inquisitor who serves as the right hand of the God Empress. Each Chapter Master oversees the inquisitors and initiates for a given area.

Culture

The two arms of the Filii Imperatricis represent the two sides of the God Empress. The Inquisition which seeks out and destroyed the heretical - as the God Empress did with her mother Chaos and the Old God - and the church witch strives to show the maternal love of the Heavenly Matron to all of her children. The Inquisition in the is most often thought of first which leads to the fear of the entire order by many. The church itself however, is known to be a sanctuary to all those who seek it out and are willing to share in the love and light of the God Empress.

Mythology & Lore

The Filii Imperatricis have to main stories underpinning their structure and worship; the Creation and the Exodus. The church is based around the love of the former and the Inquisition on the ferocity of the latter.

Divine Origins

The Filii Imperatricis came to be at the time of Exodus, forming from those who were most willing to follow the God Empress. When the peoples came to the Smoking Haven the Filii Imperatricis took up the roll of both protectors and teachers in the image of their goddess. Originally, they were made up of warrior priests who served as both Inquisition and church for the faithful but as time went on the rituals and control associated with each roll grew until the two arms of the God Empress emerged.
