Duke
Dukes generally are assigned to help a Baron manage their city, however, the smaller settlements of the Alderian Empire are usually just run by a duke alone.
Duties
The economic and civil well-being of their section of the city, or settlement.
Responsibilities
A duke generally acts as the police chief of their area in a big city, or like a baron in a small settlement. In the larger cities, they make sure everything is running smoothly in their area. They try to control crime rates, settle local disputes, and make sure their section of the city is clean and livable. A duke is also responsible for collecting taxes and resources from their area and making sure they are received by the Baron
Benefits
While not as rich and powerful as a Baron they still have a lot of power in their area and over common folk
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
A baron or the king can remove a duke, but more often than not it's the people over the area that calls for a duke's removal.
