Archmage
Title given to the head of one of the four magical colleges around Alderon
Appointment
An Archmage is generally chosen by the Council of the elders. If the current Archmage dies or steps down a ceremony is held in the college they resigned over to announce the new Archmage. Through the use of a Scrying pool the new Archmage is announced and a ceromony is held per the customs of that college.
Duties
The Archmage is responsible for approving the curriculum of all courses held within the college. They act as ambassador between the college and community leaders to broker trade deals and work commissions. They report the activities of the college to the Duke and facilitate peaceful relations between the college and community at large.
Benefits
The Archmage holds respectable political sway in whatever city they reside in. They recieve no monatary stipen from the college itself, but their food and lodging within the college are fully covered. Due to the fact that it takes a substantial amount of influence to become Archmage in the first place almost every Archmage in history was weathy before taking the mantel.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
Any ranked governmental authority above Duke can strip an Archmage of their title, though since the inception of the Council of the elders they have generally been the ones to dismiss an Archmage when necessary. Dereliction of duty, or treason are generally the reason an Archmage is removed from office.
