Art is the changeling father of the Hero of Saltmarsh Lyra, though she was born as Tig.
In 1468, when Tig was born, Art and his wife Pom had already settled in Saltmarsh in the guise of two elves. Pom took a job as a weaver, while Art worked at the docks.
The two struggled for years to make sure their daughter was able to hide her changeling nature. One day, when Tig was a child, a traveling human monk named Brenvark Coldscar came to Saltmarsh. Impressed with Brenvark, and believing that his discipline would benefit their daughter, Pom and Art turned Tig over to his protection, where she traveled and trained with him for years. Following the Great Dragon War and the expulsion of the Sea Princes, Tig moved back into Saltmarsh and lived with her parents, though they were unaware that she often moonlighted as Lyra, a human smuggler. During the Banesmark Crisis, Pom and Art were unaware of Tig's involvement with the Heroes of Saltmarsh, and Tig's inability or unwillingness to tell them of her human identity led to Pom and Art assuming Tig had been taken during a sahuagin raid. The two two of them joined the Saltmarsh milita and fought in the Battle of the Spire, and Pom lost an eye during the fight, a crippling wound for a shapechanger, as the missing eye would remain in all of her forms. The two parents were heartbroken following the battle, assuming Tig had been killed as a slave, until Lyra confronted them both and revealed her human disguise. Pom was distraught and furious, while Art was more understanding, but the two of them decided nonetheless to move out of Saltmarsh and join the larger changeling community in Waterdeep, which they did following the end of the Banesmark Crisis.
