Corrin Renault is a Duke in the Baldur's Gate Council of Four. She was once a formidable politician, but a recent seizure, which left half her face paralyzed, has forced her into a more passive role.

History

Renault was born in 1439 as the heir to the noble Renault family and all their business dealings. As she grew up, she began involving herself more and more in family affairs, proving herself to be a masterful businesswoman and efficient, if less impressive, politician. In 1475, Renault was appointed to the Council of Four after serving in the Parliament of Peers for many years.

During the 1482 Bhaalspawn Crisis, Renault's firstborn son, Entar, died during the Bhaalspawn's rampage. His passing profoundly affected Renault, and her political leanings shifted dramatically towards nonintervention, unwilling to see other parents lose their children as she had.

Following the crisis, she voted in favor of leaving Abdel Adrian's seat empty. She also clashed with newly appointed Grand Duke Ulder Ravengard over his refusal to give-up his position in the Flaming Fist.
In early Uktar of 1491, Renault opposed to motion of the Parliament of Peers, sponsored by Jessabelle Leonin, to marshal the city's forces to oppose the Cult of the Dragon. During the Baldur's Gate Uprising, Renault, along with the rest of Baldur's Gate's government, was trapped inside the High Hall, and was subsequently freed following the death of Alexander Rake. She then voted to join the Council of Waterdeep, despite her reservations.
In the years following the Great Dragon War, Renault agreed with the Parliament of Peers that the empty seat on the Council of Four needed to be restored.

She has recently taken a backseat on the council, following a seizure in 1494 that paralyzed half of her face and left her with slurred speech.
