Oversar Maxwell Solloway

Maxwell Solloway was the Oversar of Baldur's Gate's Upper City Guard, the Watch, during the Baldur's Gate Uprising and husband to Lysara Solloway, better known as Lysara the Grin.

History

Solloway was born in 1440 in the Lower City of Baldur's Gate. When he came of age, he immediately joined the Watch out of both a drive to protect his city and a desire to live in the Upper City. In 1461, a young Solloway met Lysara. The two of them instantly fell in love and married in 1465.
In 1470, Lysara gave birth to their only child, Max, named after his father. Due to Solloway rapidly increasing income as he rose through the ranks, Lysara opted to stay at home and raise their child, whom she loved dearly.
During the Bhaalspawn Crisis of 1482, Solloway, now a Commandal of the Watch, fought on the front lines against the rampaging monster. At home, Lysara witnessed the Bhaalspawn as it killed her son. Heartbroken and grieving, Lysara was approached by the spirit of Jack of Smiles, who offered to possess her to rid her of her pain. Lysara accepted and disappeared. Solloway presumed both his wife and child dead.
Nine years later, in 1491, Solloway was the Oversar of the Watch, now dedicating his life to protecting Baldur's Gate. In early Uktar, Solloway met the Breadwinners and ultimately joined them and Flaming Fist Night Commander Aella Ravengard in the raid to take down the crime lord of Baldur's Gate, Lysara the Grin. Lysara would turn out to be Solloway's wife who had gone missing during the Bhaalspawn Crisis, and she would be returned to him exercised and remorseful.

A few days later, Solloway would led the Watch in repelling the Cult of the Dragon during the Baldur's Gate Uprising.
Following the uprising, Solloway would retire from his position as Oversar, choosing now to prioritize his wife's mental well-being. The two of them moved to a small village, away from Baldur's Gate.
