King
Melandrach is the current monarch of the
Kingdom of the Woods in the
Misty Forest of
Faerun.
History
The firstborn son of the royal family of the Kingdom of the Woods, there was no doubt at all that Melandrach would eventually rule the wood elfs that call the forest home. When Melandrach's father passed away, that is precisely what happened.
King Melandrach's rule displayed many of the characteristic elements of elven rule, namely being exceedingly cautious. Melandrach also had two sons,
Alagarthas, his oldest and most favored child, and
Neronvain, his more quarrelsome younger some that disagreed often and vocally about his father's approach to governance. These quarrels eventually grew heated enough that Neronvain was exiled in the mid-15th century. Embittered, Neronvain left his home and eventually joined the reforming
Cult of the Dragon, becoming its Green Wyrmspeaker.
In 1492, during the
Great Dragon War, King Melandrach and Prince Alagarthas traveled to
Waterdeep to represent the Kingdom of the Woods on the
Council of Waterdeep. There the two elves informed the
Breadwinners about a series of dragon attacks that had occurred near the settlement of
Altand in the Misty Forest. These attacks were discovered to be caused by Neronvain and the
green dragon Chuth. Neronvain was killed by the adventurers and his death was reporetd to Melandrach and Alagarthas along with the information that the warden of Altand,
Galin, had been working for the cult. Melandrach remained in Waterdeep to attend to the council's business while Alagarthas temporarily returned home to handle Galin's execution.
During the climax of the Great Dragon War, Melandrach remained behind while Alagarthas represented and led their people during the
Battle of Hardbuckler and the
Battle at the Well of Dragons. Following the defeat of the Cult of the Dragon, Melandrach returned home to mourn his lost son properly.
