Pathos Gloombright

Pathos Gloombright, born Roger Pistrany, was a necromancer who was one of the initial members of the aboleth S'gothgah's Cult of Bane in the Styes.

History

Roger was born in 1453. As a young man, Roger moved to the Styes in order to study necromancy without the limitations most governments imposed on the magic. While there, Roger befriended Nihan Li, though eventually the two had a falling out due to Roger's intense jealousy over Nihan's success.
While mastering his craft, Roger changed his name to Pathos Gloombright to sound scarier.
In early 1494, Pathos came into contact with S'gothgah, who was establishing his base in the Styes to raise his kraken. Pathos opted to join S'gothgah in exchange for power, receiving from the aboleth a Banesmark and a soul-stealing device. 
On the 24th of Tarsakh 1494, Pathos attended Nihan's murder mystery birthday party. However, Pathos's gift to the alchemist was, in fact, the soul-stealing device, which murdered Nihan when he opened the box. Pathos had planned to steal back the device, and with it Nihan's soul, but he was discovered by fellow party-goers Shoestring and Ventha who uncovered Pathos's shared history with and motive for killing Nihan. Pathos attempted to escape, and fought back with a hoard of skeletons he smuggled in, but was killed. With his dying breath, Pathos warned that a new master had arrived.
