Pauline is an aarakocra nomad that travels around the Sea of Swords. She was a good friend, and sometimes girlfriend, of lighthouse keeper Major Ursa.
In 1496, Pauline, upset at Major's drinking problem, threw out every alcohol bottle he owned. Unfortunately, this also included a ship-in-a-bottle given to Major from his father. She asked Micah Pierce and Lyra, who were in the area investigating the Isle of the Abbey, to find the bottle and return it before Major noticed.
The two adventurers managed to recover the bottle, which had formed the centerpiece of a Kuo-toa created deity, the Holy Bud. Pauline rewarded the two of them with a token, telling the two of them they could use that to call in a favor from her nomadic tribe.
