Shade

A Shade is the title given to masters of the Twilight Monastery.
There were eight shades at any given one time:

• Chief among Shades
• the Shade of Combat
• the Shade of Stealth
• the Shade of Poisons
• the Shade of Ceremony
• the Shade of Infiltration
• the Shade of Foresight
• the Shade of Luck

Qualifications

To qualify to be a Shade, a monk of the Twilight Monastery must both display excellence in study, combat, and stealth but must further excell at one particular calling or attribute of the monastery. When a Shade died, or the position was otherwise vacated, the most worthy successor was chosen from among the followers of the monastery.
