Taern Hornblade is a renowned elven mage, a close friend of Laeral Silverhand, the uncle of High Lord Methrammar Aerasumé, and the all but recognized leader of the Silver Marches.
History
In 1492, Taern was hosting the peace summit for the War of Reawakening in Silverymoon. During the summit, the Vault of the Sages was broken into by two competiting adventuring companies, the Breadwinners and the Reverse Funnel System, seeking the Book of Draconic Rituals. Following the summit, Taern was chosen by High Lord Methrammar Aerasumé to be the Silver Marches representative at the Council of Waterdeep, alongside ambassador Connerad Brawnanvil of Mithral Hall. At the council's initial meeting, Taern was cross with the Breadwinners for breaking into the Vault of the Sages, though the adventurers countered that they didn't have time to fill him in, as the Cult of the Dragon's plan to steal it was already in motion. The remaining time Taern spent on the council was relatively unassuming, only speaking when he had something to add, particularly on magical issues. Shortly before the march to the Well of Dragons, Taern promised the forces of the Silver Marches to assist in the coming battles.
