Yeoltanso
A stone that is used in the manufacture of the Unseon. It is often found in close proximity with graphite and coal.
Properties
Material Characteristics
Yeoltanso is a glossy grey to black material. It is often found in flat sheets or pieces because it prefers breaks along a flat plain along the grain of the material.
Physical & Chemical Properties
Yeoltanso is quite soft, similar to that of alabaster. It is stronger along the grain of the material, but can still be broken or ground into powder like graphite. It is not flammable and has never been melted as far as we know.
Geology & Geography
This material is often found in close proximity to graphite and diamond veins or occasionally the edges of coal veins. It is commonly found in areas that that have igneous rocks or have a history of volcanic activity.
History & Usage
History
No one is sure when Yoeltanso was originally discovered, as it had no known practical use when it was originally first mined besides being occasionally used for artistic reasons. However, it was about 300 years ago when an artist first discovered that it had the ability to repel itself from lodestone. Some decades later, a curious scholar took some to a Yeongseon, since those paths in the surface of Gyerim seemed to have a similar but much stronger attraction effect on metals like iron.
An enterprising merchant who helped the scholar reach the site was the one who constructed the model that would inspire the Unseon. Since then, Yeoltanso has been monopolized by traveling merchant groups to construct their strange craft to travel from city to city.

Everyday use
Yeoltanso is used today almost exclusively for the construction of Unseon. However, there are a couple of historical artifacts that have used the black stone to create small sculptures or as a pigment for paintings and drawings.
