Yeongseon
The yeongseon is a series of rock veins that crisscross the lands of Gyerim. They serve as the center of a series of strange phenomena. Firstly, where the yeongseon cross through lands where plants can grow, they seem to grow larger and more densely in proximity to the path than the surrounding environment. This is even true in arid lands.
Secondly, most animals seem to avoid the yeongseon. Some migratory birds seem to use them as a guide, but they avoid landing too close. Even some people who have never been very close to one before can experience a level of unease or unexplained discomfort for the first several hours. The only land animal known to willing seek out the yeongseon is the Paseok, a species of reptilian herbivores that are today used as beasts of burden by local populations. Due to their feet and the gripping claws that they use to help increase their traction, grass and vegetation is normally trimmed back on the yeongseon but not removed or paved over to prevent their claws turning the surface to mud. Small paved track-ways are added in some routes used for heavy cargo to facilitate the use of the paths by regular wagons and unseon.
Finally, the yeongseon have an unusual effect on materials in their immediate proximity. Iron and metals containing it are attracted to the ground while other metals like brass are not. Some materials like sheets of Yeoltanso are actually repelled. This is the basis of the Unseon, a wagon-like vehicle that is used to travel along the yeongseon. This allows the people of Gyerim to utilize the effects of the yeongseon as trade highways.
The rock that makes up the yeongseon make a rough rectangle, normally found about a foot (~30cm) underground. The rock is a universally a dark gray color with a fine grain and is believed to have never been broken at the hands of people.
Geography
Yeongseon crisscross Gyerim without any seeming pattern aside from favoring straight lines. They also seems to follow the basic contour of the land. It is unknown if they pass along the ocean floor, though it is know that they at least go to the end of the ocean in select locations.
