Battle of Eyvindardalr

The Conflict

Prelude

For almost eight generations, the Skræling tribes ravaged the Ginderlände and the Wolda Woods, which were still under Alamaran rule. Weakened by the Alamaran conscription the local Alamar lords were unable to protect the area and the economy suffered. Karl the First decided that all the Ginderländers, Deji and Fhokki forces were released from military service on foreign territory in order to be able to defend their homes in Nordgard against the Skræling.

Aftermath

With their victory in the Battle of Eyvindardalr in the year 22 they were able to drive most of the Skræling back onto Lake Jorakk. With the Skræling raiders under control there was a newfound pride in the Fhokki forces. The Alamaran lords had lost all influence and control over them. The Fhokki Confederation had provided the security the Alamaran Lords could not offer. Many of them left and returned to the Empire.

Historical Significance

Legacy

The Fhokki Confederation had provided the security the Alamaran Lords could not offer. This was the birth of the Fhokki Fryskdom. It also created the trust between the the Ginderländers and Fhokki that was the foundation for a great symbiotic relationship in industry and trade, each bringing to the table their own advantageous opportunities. Over the centuries, whilst feudal lords reigned in the rest of Allamar and Renária, no aristocratic structures emerged in the Wolda Woods and near Lake Jorakk.
