The Legion

Strength, Ambiguity and Influence

The Legion, a relatively young Firstcome faction, is a complex and enigmatic force within the Third Horizon. Many view them as Zenithians due to their youth, but their ties to The Consortium and their strategic independence on the Council paint a more intricate picture of their allegiance and motives. The Legion is comprised of a diverse collection of mercenaries and armed skippers, gathered around the remnants of a fleet squadron from the Portal Wars.

Origins and Growth

The Legion traces its roots to veterans of the Portal Wars, a group of battle-hardened individuals with a shared history of conflict. However, their true transformation came with the arrival of the Zenith. The Zenith's presence offered new opportunities and employers, leading to the Legion's exponential growth in both power and size.

Branches

The Legion operates through three distinct branches, each with its own responsibilities and hierarchy:

The Fleet

The heart of the Legion's military might and spacefaring prowess. The Legion's fleet boasts two remarkable flagships: the Shahrazad and the Dunyazad. While the Dunyazad remains active and operational, the Shahrazad has disappeared under mysterious circumstances. The Legion remains tight-lipped about the fate of their flagship, leaving the truth shrouded in speculation.

The Companies

The face of the Legion. Many factions employ this branch for mercenary work. They are governed by a strict code and set of rules.

The Guard

The lowest branch, responsible for maintaining peace on the Coriolis Station itself.

The Guard's Dark Reputation

The Guard's role in maintaining order on Coriolis has been marred by corruption, leading to incompetence and distrust among the station's inhabitants. This tarnished reputation raises questions about the Legion's ability to police effectively.

Tech and Rumors

The Legion is known for its willingness to embrace advanced technology, and rumors suggest that they acquire much of it from Consortium companies such as Celer-Delekta, NimaBionics, and Industrial Algebra. This willingness extends to biosculpting and bionics, which allow Legion members to transcend the boundaries of human capabilities, fueling intrigue and unease among other factions.

Conclusion

The Legion remains a paradoxical presence within the Third Horizon. Their alliance with The Consortium, their independence on the Council, and their use of advanced technology all contribute to an aura of mystery and ambiguity. As they continue to navigate the complex web of alliances and rivalries in the Coriolis universe, the true nature of their objectives remains hidden, leaving both allies and adversaries to wonder what lies beneath the Legion's enigmatic facade.
