Personal history
Nevve and her twin sister Jeakke were born to a family of weaponsmiths - and that suited Nevve just fine. She enjoyed smithing, and while her sister was always dreaming about using weapons, she wanted nothing more than to make them. Growing up, however, she gained a protective attitude over her sister - recognizing that Jeakke struggled to be understood by kids their own age and often coming to her sister's defense. Combined with the general atmosphere of the smithy, Jeakke's personality was rough and foul-mouthed, taking no quarter from anyone.
Yet when Jeakke wrote home about all the amazing weapons she saw while doing mercenary work, Nevve found her own reason to leave home - to fulfill her sister's wishes of wielding weapons never made for demon hands. Nevve set out for whatever realm Jeakke was in, found a master, and learned how to smith weapons in their style. She usually apprenticed for a century at a time - the average length of time it took Jeakke to become infatuated with a new style of weapons.
In this way, Nevve broadened her horizons as a smith further than she could have ever imagined - if not for her desire to make her sister happy, Nevve would have never left the Demon Realm or sought out teaching beyond typical demon smithing. But this education gave her more than improved smithing skills - it changed her worldview. She saw how different approaches to the same skill each had merit in different ways, and none was wholly superior to the other. Nevve realized that the only way to be the best at something was to have the right skills for the right problem - which differed greatly from the cultural perspective she grew up with espousing physical strength over all else.
This was, perhaps, a factor in why she insisted Jeakke give up beast hunting when her sister became pregnant. While Nevve greatly admired her sister-in-law Emedao and had nothing but respect for their profession, she saw that it was not the best environment for raising a child. The two fell out despite their close relationship, and Nevve even gave up weaponsmithing altogether. She moved to civil smithing, her wide range of talents gaining her easy entry under the Head of Civilsmiths in the Demon King's Castle of the time, Morosti. She vowed not to make Jeakke another weapon until her sister saw reason - her only exception being a First Decade gift for her nephew, Jurao.
Nevve came to regret this after learning of her sister's death - when another hunter named Omarri brought Jurao to her to raise. Though she knew it was illogical, she still felt partly responsible for Jeakke and Emedao's deaths due to her own stubbornness.
Nevve did take in her nephew, and began apprenticing him as a smith. But as he grew, she recognized the way he looked at weapons - the same way Jeakke used to. And so when he reached young adulthood and asked to join the Demon King's army, Nevve was unsurprised. She gave her nephew her blessing and made him a pair of swords - vowing to be the only one he would ever get weapons from. During this time, she also developed a long-distance relationship with Omarri through letter writing - the pair meeting up whenever the hunting band was close enough to the city.
Nevve took over as Head Civil Smith, and felt great pride in watching the way her nephew followed in his mothers' footsteps as an incredible force of combat. His skill earned him an officer commission, and he worked his way up the ranks to eventually become the Demon General. And when the former Demon King nominated Jurao as his replacement, Nevve was one of the few people completely unsurprised. With her nephew's Ascension and Unification Campaign complete, Nevve is content with her position as Head Civil Smith - though she still makes all of Jurao's weapons.

History
Nevve spent most of her life trying to make Jeakke happy - though she also enjoyed traveling the Mortal Realms learning new blacksmithing techniques, she only did so for her sister's sake. Jeakke was ever grateful to her sister, often feeling like Nevve was the only person who understood her - until she met her wife, Emedao. Even after their falling out, the sisters always thought well of each other - Nevve's angry complaints colored by fear for her sister's safety with a child in the midst of a dangerous profession.
