Aredian Engine

By which the sky is tamed

The Aredian Engine is the most famous of the Aredian Inventions made by Armanus Aredian, it uses Abyssal Blood to keep Skyships afloat in the sky and also provides a low level of acceleration.

Appearance

Standard Aredian Engines are made of a mixture of Brass and Copper with dozens of metal tubes contorting around each other, there are various valves and pumps visible from the outside as well. A standard engine is eight feet tall and ten feet across. There are six-eight cartridges, depending on the model, on the front which hold specially made large syringes to supply the engine with Abyssal Blood. Some modified Aredian Engines look much more extravagent fue to modifiers. Some examples of modifies are changes to the number of cartridges, hybridisation between Abyssal and Steam power and self-destruct mechanisms. Other modified engines are smaller and more compact in order to be used in smaller ships, these engines tend to only have two cartridges and a lower max output.

History

Aredian Engines were created by Armanus Aredian and The Institute of Advancement in approximately 4300 P.M. It was one of the first Aredian inventions and found quick use in creating the first stable long-distance Skyships. At first there was some controversy in using and relying on Abyssal Blood as a means of transport, but the sheer usefullness of the invention quickly quietened all critics and the Engine has been in constant use to the modern day. While they have been heavily modified the core design of the engine has not yet been improved upon.
